An interesting aspect of the educational sessions of the nutrition program in the Leogane area is that it reaches far beyond just the mothers involved. These sessions become a community event with other mothers and daughters listening in on the nutrition class. As the second photo shows even young boys are curious about what is going on and are exposed to the health and nutrition information taught at the meetings. This education of the community as a whole is planned for and leads to a decrease in malnutrition not just in the mothers directly participating but also in the village as a whole, knowledge is power!
