Another one of the unfortunate realities of Haiti, is that in most areas the poor have no surgical treatment available to them. Even if you could find a surgeon you must prepay for even emergency surgery. People who do not have enough money for food obviously do not have money for even desperately needed surgery. This is where Hope for Haiti's Angel Fund steps in to help. In 2003 the Angel Fund provided needed surgery to almost 200 individuals who otherwise would have had to suffer horribly or die. The impact this has had on these Haitians lives is incalculable.
For only $500 you can save or radically change the life of a child in Haiti.
- Imagine your child has a broken leg, an open fracture, and you can do nothing to help.
- Imagine your child has appendicitis and you can do nothing to help.
- Imagine your child is severely burned and you can do nothing to help.
Clinics
In addition to providing surgeries, Hope for Haiti receives significant amounts of donated medications and healthcare materials. Determinations are made as to where the medicines are most needed and they are then packaged and shipped by volunteers to one of the clinics or hospitals that we support. The importance of these medications cannot be overstated. While we take the availability of antibiotics for granted, in Haiti there is a critical shortage of medicines to treat infections. Such infections if left untreated lead to horrible suffering, amputation and even death.
